An Investigation of Elementary School Pupils' Attitudes Toward School

教育的目的不僅在使學生獲得知識與技能,更須培養學生良好的習慣、態度與理想。一個人在學校所學的知識與技能,往往很容易忘記;可是所學得的態度及習慣卻很難改變,而且對於個人的生活會有深遠的影響。態度不僅是學習的結果,且為影響學習效果的重要因素之一。學生的態度若良好或積極,則學習的效果會較好,亦會有良好的表現;反之,若養成了一種錯誤或消極的態度,則可能阻礙學習的功能,學習的效果亦會較差。本研究之主要目的在於:一、了解國小學生對學校態度之實際情形。二、探討國小學生對學校之態度與其性別、自我觀念、學業就及家庭社會經濟地位等因素之關係。三、歸納研究結果,提出若干建議,以為輔導國小學生之參考。
英文摘要
The purposes of this study are:
1. To understand the elementaryschool pupils' attitudes toward school. There are four aspects:attitudes toward school in general;attitudes toward curriculum;attitudes toward teachers;and attitudes toward classmates.
2. To explore the relationship between elementaryschool pupils' attitudes toward school and such factors as sex, selfconcept, academic achievement, and socioeconomic status.
3. To offer recommendations to the teachers for guiding elementaryschool pupils.
The subjects for this study are 930 sixth grade pupils(489 boys and 441 girls)from ten elementary schools located in Taipei City and Taiwan Province, Republic of China. All subjects were tested with:The Questionnaire of ElementarySchool Pupils' Attitudes Toward School;Childrens' SelfAttitude Questionnaire;and Academic Achievement Test of ElementarySchool Pupils.
The major findings are summarized as follows:
1. Most of the elementaryschool pupils have positive attitudes toward school.
2. The different relationship between elementaryschool pupils' attitudes toward school and sex depends on the different aspects of The Questionnaire of ElementarySchool Pupils' Attitudes Toward School and the socioeconomics status of the pupils.
3. There is a positive and significant relationship between elementaryschool pupils' attitudes toward school and their selfconcept. High selfconcept pupils have a more positive attitude toward school than below selfconcept pupils.
5. There is no correlation between elementaryschool pupils' attitudes toward school and their socioeconomic status.
Based on the findings of this study, some recommendations for guiding the elementaryschool pupils who have negative attitudes toward school are suggested.
